1. How should we carry out maintenance and care for the Intelligent frequency conversion pump that has not been used for a long time?

If a frequently unused variable-frequency water pump is not properly maintained, it is prone to problems such as component rusting, circuit aging, and mechanical jamming, which will affect its normal startup in the future. To address this situation, systematic maintenance needs to be carried out from multiple aspects including mechanical, electrical, and storage environment. The specific methods are as follows:

1. Comprehensive inspection and handling before shutdown

Empty the medium in the pump

Close the water inlet valve, open the drainage port (such as the water release screw on the bottom of the pump body), and completely drain the water or other transported medium from the pump to avoid residual liquid corroding the impeller, pump casing and seals when left to stand.

If the pump is used to convey media containing impurities or corrosive substances, it is necessary to rinse the pump chamber with clean water 2-3 times to ensure that there are no residual impurities inside.

Check the condition of key components

Disassemble and inspect the mechanical seals. If any wear or leakage is found, replace the parts immediately. For rotating components such as bearings, add an appropriate amount of special lubricating grease (such as lithium-based lubricating grease) to reduce oxidation and rusting during storage.

Clean up the debris in the impeller, filter screen and other parts to ensure there are no entanglements or obstructions, and prevent deformation due to long-term force.

II. Protection Measures for Electrical Systems

Power Outage and Line Protection

Disconnect the main power supply of the variable-frequency water pump, remove the power line connector, and wrap the exposed terminals with insulating tape to prevent moisture-induced short circuits.

Clean the interior of the frequency converter (use light blowing with compressed air). Check if there are any bulges or leaks in components such as capacitors and circuit boards. If any abnormalities are found, repair or replacement should be carried out in advance.

Regular power-on to prevent moisture ingress

Even if it is not used for a long time, it is recommended to power it on once or twice a month, allowing the water pump to run without load for 5 to 10 minutes each time (make sure the pump chamber is dry to avoid damaging the seals due to idle rotation). Use the heat generated by the motor operation to disperse the internal moisture and prevent the coil from getting damp and moldy.

III. Control of Storage Environment

Select an appropriate storage space

The storage location should be dry, well-ventilated, and protected from direct sunlight, rain, or proximity to corrosive gases (such as in chemical workshops or damp areas of basements).

If stored outdoors, the water pump should be completely covered with a waterproof cover. The bottom should be raised by 10-20 cm to prevent the ground moisture from eroding it.

Protection of mechanical components

Install sealing covers at the inlet and outlet of the water pump to prevent dust, insects, etc. from entering the pump chamber.

For the exposed parts of the pump shaft and the metal components such as the coupling, apply a layer of anti-rust oil (such as vaseline), and then wrap them with a plastic film to isolate from air and moisture.
